Share a few tips for protecting wallet security in web3 (for airdrop participants)#
To begin with, if you want to systematically learn and eventually master airdrop operations, I strongly recommend reading the "Self-Rescue Manual for the Dark Forest of Blockchain" by Teacher Yu Xian @evilcos. The blockchain is a dark forest, and as participants, we cannot focus solely on making money while neglecting wallet security. Don't let criminals easily steal your achievements; before thinking about how to make money, you must first protect your principal!! Manual link
1. Don't rush to click airdrop links#
Many participants rush to click on airdrop links released by project parties without considering that the accounts of the project parties or KOLs may have been compromised. For example, many projects like eigenlayer and puffer have encountered such incidents, and the links released at that time are often phishing links. My personal approach is to wait until at least 3-5 well-known KOLs post airdrop information about the same project before using a secondary account to inquire (Note: Never use your main account as a pioneer).
2. Be cautious when participating in projects that require downloading Chrome extensions#
There was a case where malicious Chrome extensions could steal user cookies, leading to account password leaks on certain platforms. Unless absolutely necessary, avoid downloading extensions casually.
3. Absolutely do not participate in projects that require downloading software#
Last year, I had several small wallets for airdrops stolen because I installed a mining software on my device, which turned out to be a Trojan. Since then, I have skipped all projects that require downloading desktop software, even if they suggest running it in a virtual machine.
4. Do not increase the amount in airdrop wallets#
This point goes without saying: only store the amount you are willing to use for airdrops in your airdrop wallet, and do not transfer all funds from exchanges to such wallets!
5. Do not update fingerprint browsers unless necessary#
Based on previous issues with ads being stolen, do not update the versions of desktop software like fingerprint browsers unless necessary. Many features are tied to versions, and you cannot predict which update will introduce vulnerabilities instead of conveniences.
6. Download all plugins in the fingerprint from the Chrome market#
Similarly, regarding the ads incident, which involved supply chain poisoning attacks, the problem essentially lies with the plugins in the app store. Remember that all Chrome plugins must be installed through the official Chrome market. By analogy, plugins found through Baidu or Google searches should also be avoided!!!
7. Do not ask others for installation packages#
I know many friends in the crypto community have the habit of asking others for installation packages, such as for VPNs, emulators, or assistant tools. This is not a good habit, as malicious individuals may provide problematic packages, leading to serious consequences.
8. Do not easily click on authorizations#
Last year, I almost fell for a scam: after the project party's account was hacked, a phishing link was posted that included a "claim" button, which, when clicked, directly displayed authorization to transfer all assets. Once confirmed, the wallet would be rendered useless. Therefore, when confirming or authorizing actions in the wallet, be sure to check carefully!!
9. Always use a new wallet when importing wallets#
Currently, many projects require wallet imports, such as various wallet applications or new platforms. I always insist on using newly created wallets to handle such requests.
(There are more tips, which will be explained in subsequent issues. Finally, here’s a warning from a group friend!!!)

🔥 Solve the problem of accessing OKX, Binance, Huobi, and other exchanges from mainland China#
Many original domain names of exchanges may be blacklisted or experience slow access due to overseas servers. Ordinary users often feel confused and even suspect platform service interruptions. In fact, this is more due to the network environment rather than platform issues. To address this situation, exchanges like OKX and Binance regularly update backup domain names to ensure users can access the official website through alternative addresses.
